A Passion for My Patients’ Amazing Smiles
I love watching the changes that happen to every patient as he or she moves through the orthodontic transformation. Not only does the person’s appearance change, but each one goes from being shy and unhappy with their teeth to outgoing and confident about their smile. As an orthodontist, I play a part in these physical and emotional transformations, and it never grows old.
Each of my patients is important to me. Because we’re a smaller practice, I’m able to deliver one-to-one care at every visit. I look forward to seeing my patients, not just to monitor their progress but because I love hearing about their lives. We’re a family-run practice, and our patients become part of our extended family.
Education and Commitment to Continuing Education
- Bachelor of Science – University of Oklahoma
- Doctorate of Dental Surgery – University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry
- Master of Science in Orthodontics – University of Michigan
Each year I attend numerous state and national orthodontic meetings. This allows me to learn from the leaders in the profession, as well as keeping me current on technology and treatment approaches. I’m also a member of the Oklahoma Tweed Study Club, which meets to review difficult cases and discuss various techniques.
In addition, I’m the assistant course director of the Tweed Study Course given three times a year in Tucson, AZ, to teach orthodontics to students from around the world. This has led to my being invited to many countries to deliver courses and lectures, including China, Japan, France, Italy, Monte Carlo in Monaco, and Brazil. I was honored to receive the Distinguished Service Award from the Charles H. Tweed International Foundation at the biennial meeting in 2014.
I’m also a clinical professor in orthodontics at the University of Oklahoma, where I’ve taught since 1981. This has allowed me to teach and interact with every student who has graduated from that program.

I’ve lived in Oklahoma for most of my life, even though my Dad was in the U.S. Air Force and we moved around a bit. I’ve called Yukon my home for more than 25 years, and my wife Laura and I have been married almost as long. We have two great children: daughter Kristyn and son Chris. We are all dog lovers: Laura and I currently have two rescue dogs, Rufus and Shock.
When not working, I love to play golf, though I’m not very good at it. My favorite pastime is traveling, especially with friends. I enjoy going to the lake in the summer and to the mountains in winter.
